Driving into Saigon -Ho Chi Minh it is very obvious that Vietnams capitol city is fast paced and that the artitecture is of a French rather that a Britsh influence lucky for them the English style colonial building is rather boring. You can also see the Chinesse influence as the city grew up rather than out, the store fronts are all very small and the buildings go up literally 3 to 6 stories. For the Saigon Guesthouses it ussually means either a lot of stairs or look for a budget accommadations that has a elevator, right!

We found the places that we stayed at and the ones that we looked at all were clean and a little worn but for the most part everything worked just fine. In saigon we really liked the Dai Hong Kim for the great view that it offered

Nha Trang Guesthouses and hotels tended to be more homey and as it was not in the big city we found it a bit more relaxed . We found a couple of air con hot water hotel guesthouses on the Ocean with a great view for $10 USD a night I would guess that do to the Cheany Bush Cartel that the prices have gone up. The sweet spot if you are looking at the ocean head to the left but not out as far as the big resorts. Couple of good 2nd story resturants serving sea food. ATMS on the ocean front.
