Tokyo is not the place to be looking for a cheap hotel with some of the highest prices in Asia and the world. Too compensate for this they have come up with a very innovative idea capsule hotels a very small tube that is big enough to sleep comfortably in that has a tv temp controls radio alarm clock if you are claustrophobic you would not want to stay here but the tube is very comfortable and half the price of a regular hotel room.

the very cheap hotel that I checked out was very close to the Ikebukuro train station and it was equipped with a very nice steam sauna massage complex that also had a large tv room and other amenities like very well equipped bathrooms. It also had large storage lockers making this much more appealing and comfortable for short stays in the 1 to 3 day range,after that I am sure that it would get old fast. they have internet but it is slightly expensive Star bucks and Mcdonalds both offer free wifi if you have your laptop with you both are close buy .

 

The rooms are very spartan but that is the traditional minimalist way of Japan. These rooms are very quiet. They also have a common area that has tv and the ever present in Japan vending machines for food, beer or soft drinks .
