EcoSea Dive is happy to announce our next cleanup event as we participate again this year in the

20th Anniversary of International Cleanup Day on 17 September 2005

Divers Needed!

We will be cleaning our deep site that has quite a few old nets and fishing boxes.  We have tried now 3 times to get into the Sponge Factory to clean it . We have been hampered by winds and waves. Our last reef clean was scheduled here instead we cleaned Corner Bar and First Tree and were reward with lots of nets and a extremely rare and beautiful Nudibranch and a very rare for us white pipefish.  On the way home we were asked/ordered to bring some Cambodia Police to our port and we got to fire their AK47's on the way home which was quite a unexpected treat!

This is the 6th event organized by EcoSea Dive and we have had great participation at all of them so far so we hope to see you there.

We will leave the port around 8AM space will be limited so if this is something that you would like to participate in please contact us and reserve a space. the cost is free with lunch being donated by Bamboo Light Cafe

Sihanoukville Reef Clean

April 22nd 2005

Boats off the dock 8:00 AM

EcoSea Dive as part of the international annual Dive In put on by the Coral Reef Alliance Reef Clean this time we are going to try again to get into Sponge Factory. Last year due to heavy seas we were forced to clean at Koh Kron at the Corner Bar location. We will need to leave early to give us the best chance of being able to get in and clean. Sponge Factory has been littered for a lot of years and is a deep site 25 meters so we will need more divers than usual for safety reasons.

Sponge Factory is the only site that we have in the day trip range that we almost always see Cat Sharks, Blue Spotted Rays, Eels and Puffer fish. The neat thing is they can all be in side the same hole. We have also found 2 very exotic nudibranchs that we have seen nowhere else as well as turtle sightings. The reason that the site is called Sponge factory is that there are the most amazing sponges here some growing to half a meter in height with a couple of different colors growing around each other something that I have never seen before in my many years of diving.

We hope that through everyone's efforts that we will be able to have an impact on the all the reefs in the 3 zones. What the event is all about

Zone 1 threatened by litter and contaminants, houses some of the richest soft coral beds in the area. Home to reefs Serendipity, Magic isle, Elvis Beach , Guy's Garden and others.

Divers and snorklers off Koh Kang

Zone 2 Marine Protected Area designation will hopefully soon come under Khmer Law as a MPA site. Threatened by over fishing and destructive fishing practices home to Koh Rong, Koh Rong Samleon and Koh Kron local projects in the works include moorings for the popular dive sites in the area.

Diver enjoying the coral

Zone 3 Koh Tang, Koh Prins and Condor Reef some of the best diving in Golf of Thailand with often 20 Meter Plus Visibility. Threatened by Destructive Fishing from neighboring countries fishing fleets and over fishing often mentioned as the future of Cambodian Diving needs to be designated a MPA as well.
