Flying into Shanghai our first experience with the city was waiting a long time in the taxi cue. The line lasted for about 30 minutes. We flew into one of two Shanghai airports on a cheap flight from Xiamen on Xiamen air which was really a China easter cheap flight. The first hotel that we stayed at the Liang was a very nice hotel in a pretty dodgy neighborhood We were advised not to go out of the hotel at night if we did we were told to take a taxi so we were at first a bit apprehensive about the safety but it turns out that Shanghai for the most part is as safe as most large Asian Cities.

Shanghai Art museum was a highlight not the best art museum in the world but for the 3 USD entrance fee was worth the money even for a budget traveler
another Highlight of Shanghai would be the Maglev train not listed on the things to do list we found it to be allot of fun racing along at 431 KM an hour was a real kick. the cost was cheap we felt around $5 USD for a one way if you are flying into Shanghai Pudong airport that would be the way to get into the city and then hop on the metro system which was easy to navigate without assistance and is one of the cheapest metros in Asia.
Shanghaied
I was taken for a ride of sorts by a scam that I am sure gets allot of men in the city and gets women as well it works like this a friendly sort will start a conversation with you and then you go for a drink some were there are a few variations on the theme mine was the possibility of dating a Chinese women. She took me to a nice department store complex in the Bund area and then invited a friend they are very friendly and order drinks then the bill comes in my case it was $600 USD You are then accosted by some rough sorts that threaten and make like they are going to rough you up to get the money I resisted and insisted that they call the police they said that they had called the police but I knew that they had not and that the play was to hold you until
