Scuba Diving Equipment

full set scuba diving equiment

There is a definite advantage to buying scuba diving equipment. Mask and fins are allmost allways the first purchases. Picture this your mom is watching and you spitt into a cup and then use it for a day and then the next day you give it to your little sister she spits in it and then gives it to your mother and she would give you a severe tounge lashing. If you are renting a mask you just don't know where that mask has been at EcoSea DIVE we rinse our dive masks in a mild disinfectant after the days dives but what if you pick up somebody elses rental msak by mistake. This will not happen if you have your own dive gear.

Masks come in many styles and coliors and what is important is that the mask fits you correctly there is nothing more anoying on a dive trip than to have a mask that is leaking for the whole dive. something you must ask is if the skirt of the mask is silicone perferably surgical grade silicone?

How to fit a mask have the mask on your face with your head back your buddy should not be able to see large gaps lightly push the mask to your face and inhale the mask should stick to your face snuggly. Remember wit ha new mask you must clean with toothpaste at least 3 times ussually around 7 times to get so that it does not fog and you can defog with either a commercial or organic defog agent (Spit in it)

Snorkels another consideration is the snorkel which despite what some will tell you is a very important piece of safety equipment Yes they are sometimes a pain in the ass but they will save your ass if the condtions go bad and you have a long surface swim. Find one that you bend to your moth that drops out of the way when not being used also look for one where the mouthpiece can be replaced and I allways stick two snorkel keepers on my snorkel so that i don't lose them.

Mask and fins

Fins like all scuba diving equipment come in many shapes styles and prices you need to work with a dive pro to really get a good idea of what type of fin to purchase. if you do a lot of snorkling you might want a fin that is less stiff if you do a lot of current dives then the oppisite is true. We have found that a fin that works well in all conditions is the MARES Volo race or Volo power. The differnece between the fins is open heal vrs full foot if you are doing mostly boat dives in the tropics than the full foot is the most comfortable fin on the market and is also slightly less expensive
