Back in the day the Rex Hotel was one of the best hotels in Saigon & Vietnam. Currently it is undergoing renovations, but until these upgrades are in place this really should be considered a Saigon discount hotel, after the work is done it is posSsible that it would be rated a luxury hotel in Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City.
The Rex lobby is wonderful for its nostalgia with ornate fixtures going back several decades, you are magically time traveled back to the French colonial era including the outfits - costumes of the Vietnamese hotel staff.
The hotel rooms while old, are still very comfortable, and the location can't be beat right in the center of downtown Saigon, with lots of restaurant choices and shopping available. If you are here on business you are also right in the middle of the business district a fascinating area to be sure.
