When one things of Kuala Lumpur the first thought for most people is off the Petronas Towers which are quite amazing for Asia , but KL itself has its own particular feel of a being modern and vibrant place with the Bukit Bintang area a good example. The majority of the guesthousescheap hotels, discount and 5 star luxury hotels in KL on this site come from there as well as from China town.
KL Bukit Bintang area also has a lot shipping available there are many choices for restaurants from fine dining to street side dining which has its own charm and with joiners tables is a great way to meet the local Malaysians. China Town hotels seem to lean towards the really cheap and budget hotels.
Getting around Kuala Lumpur is fairly easy the taxis are relatively inexpensive make sure to have them turn the meter on if they will not your best bet is to get out and take the next one. Another note is that they charge a after midnight fee for the cabs I guess the drivers are afraid of the dark. they also have a few train lines and a mono rail as well as busses I think that figuring them out will take a bit of time. From where i was I walked everywhere that i wanted to go if you decide to that have a good map and a compass I use a D1 myself.
