If you are looking for discount Hotels in Hawaii the best chain to look at would be the Outriggers they have a huge presence for Waikiki discount hotels. There coverage on the other islands is not so good. The Outriggers all tend to be large hotels and either right on the water or very close If they are not right on the beach, then they will be close to shopping like the International Market Place. Most of the Outrigger hotels have pools and some like the one next to Fort Durresy have Jacuzzis as well and you can walk from the hotel right into the ocean on a Waikiki Beach. All of the hotels have activities desks so you can book tours to Pearl Harbor and they can tell you the good places to go for like Haunama Bay the Zoo and aquarium all in Kapiolani Park and hiking Diamond Head which gives you awesome vistas of Honolulu.
My favorite Honolulu Hotel is the outrigger which runs around 80% most of the time so you an get reservations they run specials on the internet on their web site you can also book this hotel on Hotelclub.com which is a good site to check as they will have better rates than the hotel web site at times.
